What is your skin type?

Have you also wondered why same skincare or makeup products won't work for you and your friends? Why a certain foundation appears patchy on your skin when it works miraculously for your friends or family? Well, that is because you have a different skin type.

Knowing your skin type is very important. It is an essential step that determines your skin care routine and products.

Skin types have been determined based on the oil production as;

  1. Dry skin.
  2. Normal skin
  3. Oily skin
  4. Combination skin
  5. And a special type, the sensitive skin

There are also porous and non porous skin types. Depending on the size and density of pores. Oily skin is reportedly more porous and prone to acne.

WHAT IS YOUR SKIN TYPE:

To determine your skin type, wash your your face, pat dry it and wait for a few hours, then check.

  1.  Dry skin will appear dry, rough, patchy and red.
  2.  Normal skin will have a healthy glow to it.
  3.  Oily skin will appear shiny and if you put a tissue it will absorb the oil.
  4.  Combination skin will appear shiny only in T-zone, and dry in other areas.
  5.  Sensitive skin is a special skin type. It is delicate skin type sensitive to certain chemicals like perfumes and reacts with acne or dermatoses.


Why did your skin type change?

Skin type may change depending on various factors. A lot of people face a change in skin type while going through puberty.
